The littlest Love quite enjoyed all of the plums she could get her hands on! |

We have lived in our home for 7 years this coming September. Time flies when you are having fun! We planted this tree the year after we moved in and it has grown! I do not have a green thumb at all so the fact that this tree has grown and produced fruit is VERY exciting for me. The past couple of years we've gotten fruit but this year we've got a TON of fruit for this tree! The love kept reminding me that I needed to pick the fruit before the birds got to them first. One beautiful summer morning the kids and I went out and picked the fruit. It took us about an hour to pick all of it. This would have probably gone faster if the loves didn't eat half of them and argue about whose bucket was whose where I put the fruit I picked. Does anyone else's kids argue about the littlest things?!?! I think this particular activity was before coffee, so my patience may have been short. Either way, we got almost two five gallon buckets of beautiful plums out of this tree! We were so excited!
Now came the fun part! What to do with the plums? In the past we have just ate the fruit or gave it away but this year I was determined to make jelly. I've made jams in the past from a variety of fruit but haven't ever made jelly so I was excited to learn. I used this recipe and pictures to follow from this site: https://cookingbride.com/sauces-and-seasonings/homemade-plum-jelly/ and it turned out so well! I have been very impressed and I think my husband was even impressed! He knows how to make all of the preserves because his Mom and Grandma taught him but I am still learning. I've watched my Mom make pomegranate jelly over the years but never took the time to learn. I guess hands-on learning isn't a bad thing! Do you have a favorite recipe to use plum jelly with? I'd love to learn more! Comment below!
